How Buying Bulk Works
This guide walks through how bulk buying works as a buyer: setting your rates, budget, address, and payment method so purchases can run automatically when good matches appear.
1. Turn on bulk buying
- Go to your Bulk Buylist page.
- Enable your buylist profile:
- Toggle bulk buying on.
- Optionally set your store name or public name (if shown to sellers).
Once enabled, you’ll start appearing as a potential buyer whenever sellers submit bulk for the TCGs you support.
2. Set your rates by TCG & rarity
For each TCG you want to buy (e.g. Pokémon, MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh):
- Pick a TCG.
- Fill out the rows for the rarities you want, for example:
- Common / Uncommon
- Rare
- Holo
- Ultra Rare
- For each rarity, set a rate per card (in cents).
When a seller uploads their counts, the system multiplies their card counts by your rates to calculate a total offer for that submission.
If you don’t set a rate for a specific rarity, those cards are treated as not accepted in your offer.
3. Set your budget
Your buylist profile also has a budget:
- Max budget – how much you’re willing to commit to bulk at any time.
- As matches are created and orders are submitted, your max budget will decrease by the amount of those pending deals.
- Make sure to set a budget that fits your buying goals, and update regularly as you complete purchases.
If your remaining budget is completely depleted for a new bulk submission, you simply won’t show up as an eligible buyer for that submission.
If your budget is partially depleted, your offer will be capped at the remaining budget amount. For example, if your budget is $10 remaining, a seller will be able to sell $10 worth of bulk to you.
4. Add address & payment method
To fully automate purchases, you must:
- Add a shipping / receiving address to your account (where sellers will ship the cards).
- Add a saved card as your prepaid payment method:
- This card is used for off-session charges when a seller submits their bulk to you.
- You must have this on file for automatic bulk deals to work.
Only buyers with a valid prepaid payment method are shown to sellers in the “Sell to this buyer” flow.
5. How matches & automatic charges work
Here’s what happens when a seller submits their bulk on CollectBuySell:
- Seller submits counts for the TCGs they have (e.g. Pokémon bulk: X commons, Y uncommons, etc.).
- The system compares their counts against all enabled buylist profiles:
- Only buyers with active rates for that TCG and enough budget are considered.
- For each buyer, a match (quote) is computed from your rates.
- The seller sees a ranked list of top buyers and the total offers.
When the seller clicks “Sell To This Buyer” on your row:
- The system creates a BulkDeal tied to you and that submission.
- Your saved payment method is charged automatically for the agreed amount.
- The deal is marked PAID, and:
- You get an email with a link to view the deal.
- The seller gets shipping instructions and will ship the cards to your address.
You’re only charged once per submission and buyer–match; double-charging is blocked once a deal exists.
6. Managing your bulk deals
You can view all your bulk purchases on your orders page:
- See status (PAID, SHIPPED, DELIVERED).
- View totals, breakdown, and shipping address.
- Contact the seller if needed (e.g. questions about condition or tracking).
Once the seller ships and adds tracking, the platform can track delivery and schedule payouts on their side while your order moves through its normal lifecycle.
